breweries & cideries
Brewingham has more breweries and cideries per capita than nearly any other PNW city. TRY them all.
Aslan Brewing
1330 N Forest Street, Bellingham
If you choose only one brewery to visit in Bellingham (though why would you?), try Aslan. Their whole operation - beer, food, atmosphere - is exquisite. From their Batch 15 IPA, to their poutine, kale caesar salad and bison burgers, Aslan satisfies any appetite or occasion. While its bright, clean and lively restaurant has plentiful seating, Aslan's deserved popularity makes this worth squeezing into one of their long indoor tables or summertime outdoor seating. The food and diverse menu has been stellar from the beginning, and their commitment to organic beers is unique. We're big, big fans.
Aslan Depot
1322 N State Street, Bellingham
This is Bellingham's adult living room and is a great place to casually meet locals. Aslan Depot, housed in a former railway station, serves all manner of beers, ciders, and wines. If you are looking for a break from the bustling and noisy brewery atmosphere, settle in here for good conversation, or just relax in this finely decorated taphouse, set up with comfortable couches, coffee tables, chairs, and lamps. Most weekends you'll find a food truck parked in the side yard, serving an ever-changing array of Bellingham's best roaming cuisines.
Gruff
104 E. Maple St #101, Bellingham
Gruff Brewing's taproom is a comfortable place in a nicely refurbished old warehouse near the waterfront. Order from an array of beers on tap - bring your food, order it in, or see if there's a food truck out front. Their popular backyard has games, firepits, plenty of seating, a sweeping view, and great southern exposure, and dogs are allowed: What more could you want in a casual craft brewery?
Kulshan Brewery - Sunnyland & K2
Sunnyland- 2238 James Street
K2 - 1538 Kentucky St, Bellingham
Kulshan Brewery's taphouse is a very popular Sunnyland neighborhood hangout with food truck, snacks, and on tap Kulshan year-round varieties and seasonal beers. Kulshan has a friendly and fun, small but comfortable taproom, a busy bar, and lots of convivial outdoor seating. The rotating food trucks here serve a variety of really good fare. You are also allowed to bring in your own food (and your dog, outside).
Lost Giants Cider Company
1200 Meador Ave, Bellingham
One of the great things about Bellingham is the easy access to the Cascades, the foothills, the Salish Sea and all its islands. Another is access to passion. Lost Giants Cider Company taproom is a great space to be reminded of both. This cider company's passion for their craft is on display at the cider taps and through the window looking out on their state-of-the-art production facility. And their passion for the PNW is represented by a huge panorama of the North Cascades in the taproom. The owners, all avid outdoors people, named their company after the huge ancient trees that once graced the lowlands of this area. The comfortable taproom is a little off the beaten track, but well worth the visit. They often have a food truck and events. They always have flights of great cider, good soft pretzels, and friendly, informative staff. Lost Giants' innovative logo is emblazoned on plenty of good merch for sale here.
Menace Brewing
2529 Meridian St, Bellingham
Menace Brewing is one of two breweries in the Fountain District, just blocks away from the Heliotrope Hotel. Their brewing facility sports a nice little taproom and rotating food trucks. In the warmer months they throw open a big garage door and there is plenty of room to eat and drink outdoors. The Menace beers are always on tap with a number of other great local beers. Menace also owns The Local Public House downtown, an excellent restaurant sporting 40+ beers on tap.
Stemma Brewing
500 Carolina St, Bellingham
Tucked away off Bellingham's auto row, Stemma Brewing's taproom features a delightful beer wonderland and excellent food truck offerings. We enjoyed the kitten walking the bar on our last visit, and an excellent IPA. Rotating food trucks provide excellent sustenance here. Stemma's simple taproom is nicely designed, clean and spare, with a variety of tables, a bar, and a whole lot of conviviality. Leashed and friendly dogs and cats are welcome. Though it isn't in a residential neighborhood, Stemma's has a very "neighborhoody" feel.
Stones Throw
1009 Larrabee Ave, Bellingham
Bellingham is well known for its breweries, each with its own personality. Stone's Throw has the casual vibe of a welcoming backyard, where friends meet friends in Fairhaven for music, beer or cider, conversation, and food purchased from the food truck, or ordered in from nearby restaurants. Gather around one of several fire pits and heat lamps, enjoy an airy perch on the rooftop patio, or warm and welcoming indoor seating. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating areas.
Structures Brewing
601 W Holly St, Belligham
Structures Brewing is a small brewery and taphouse, with a singular adherence to brewing and serving great beer. Their intimate taphouse opens wide onto State Street and features a casual and inviting atmosphere. This brewery is dog-friendly, but no kids are allowed. While there is no food here, you can bring it in, or just make it a stop before or after dinner. Considered some of the best beer in Bellingham.
Wander Brewing
1807 Dean Ave, Bellingham
One of Bellingham's most beloved breweries, Wander's welcoming indoor/outdoor atmosphere invites patrons to linger over their excellent selection of brews and enjoy savories from the delicious rotating food truck offerings. Wander over – the whole family is welcome (including the dog)! Situated in a historic nicely refurbished wood warehouse featuring shiny brewery equipment, wooden barrels, and live-edge tables. Some of the best beer produced in Bellingham.
